(5 stars)After much thought and reading many different reviews I decided to drop the $39 for the Garmin USA app for my iPhone 4s. My wife has a stand alone Garmin nuvi that has worked flawlessly for the past 3 years and with that in mind I decided that even though many other GPS apps were cheaper and had good reviews, I would stick with something I knew. Small price to pay for the piece of mind when traveling. After installing the app I powered it Garmin vs TomTom (4 stars) Positives found in both * maps reside on iPhone (doesn't use your 3G data) * integrates nicely with iPhone contacts * built in Google local search * lowers music volume when giving directions * can have a phone call and still see directions/maps * optional annual upgrade for traffic data (I haven't tried either one.) * up-to-date maps, accurate directions, fast gps acquisition, fast route calculations Are Much Better Than Streetpilot (4 stars) Version 2: It came out last night at around 2 am and I could not install it. Just got off the phone with Garmin and now have it installed. Here is some of what you should know: 1. It uses ALOT of temporary storage. I had 3.2 GB of space left on my iPhone 4 and it would not install on the phone. It said there was not enough space.
