Dashboard displays the current speed, distance, heading, altitude and travel time information using your iPhone's built-in GPS receiver.

For example, you can use this app to verify your vehicle's speedometer, or if you want to know your heading and altitude, or if you can't see the vehicle's dashboard (on airplane, train, boat, etc...)

Notes:
* iPhone OS 3.0 or higher is required
* Due to older iPhone's (3G/S) limited GPS reception quality, the speed information isn't accurate below 10 km/h (6 mph)
* The compass works only while you are moving.
* On iPod Touch, will work only with external GPS receiver. (There are car kits available with GPS receiver.)

A limited GPS signal can have many different reasons:
* bad positioning of the iPhone in the car. Like with every portable navigation device, the iPhone should always have a free view to the sky.
* metallized thermally insulated windshield
* usage of design or protective covers
While using our Car Dashboard Software please avoid using covers since these influence the reception of a GPS signal.

Silly. Doesn't Work. (1 star)
I have to thank the developers of this app for allowing me to try this for free. No longer will I entertain the notion of any of these silly HUD (heads up display) apps actually working.

You know, apps like these (and the pitiful GPS navigation apps - what a disaster those are!) really are trying to appeal to the geek in us. Really...what am I thinking, relinquishing my phone to the dashboard?

Great for an antique car . . . (4 stars)
My 1960 antique car's speedometer didn't seem to be registering correctly. . .

After downloading a couple of apps, I ended up using this for my ride home. I liked the options and features. Haven't tried the HUD, but it looks fun. Response time was spotty in low coverage areas, but its a good reference tool for an old car. I slowed down next to a Honda Civic w/ the digital display and the app was only off by 2 mph. I'll try it

This free app is Really Cool! I had put new tires on my pick-up and thought the truck was traveling faster than the speedometer indicated.,,,Indeed the dashboard confirmed it! I was actually going 5 mph faster than indicated. A friend who is a State Trooper Verified the dashboard with his radar unit . The dashboad is very accurate! I also injoy the HUD at night. I just place the IPhone on the dash and can see my speed without having to look
